Quiet Quail Books

Hamiintamc! Quiet Quail Books is a California Indigenous-owned book shop. Our mission is to connect and collaborate with communities across Southern California over our love for quality Indigenous authored books. We stock Indigenous authored books, children’s books, graphic novels, comics, magazines, and miscellaneous gifts. After successful sales online since 2020, we started pop-up book booths in person across the Southern California region. We firmly believe literature to be a powerful tool to connect, empathize, build relationships, and empower people from all walks of life, through the lens of Indigenous story-telling and epistemologies. Check out where we will pop up next on our social media or find a way to support us online!

Meet the Team

  • Hamiintamc! My name is Carolann Duro and I’m the founder of Quiet Quail Books and NDN Book Nerd. I am Maara’yam and Kumeyaay adopted descendant, and Mexican and Irish. I am California Indigenous and was born and raised in Southern California. These two projects are born out of my passion for reading, books, community, Indigenous storytelling, and so much more. Every day I get to do this is a dream! I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for my family, community, cheerleaders, and fellow readers. Hakup a’ai!

Hello! My name is Belle and I am so excited to be contributing to Carolann’s passion of creating community through Indigenous storytelling. When I am not managing the QQB bookshelves, you can find me out on the land!
